Paid Live Events & Pay-Per-View Tickets

For event producers and promoters

Paid Live Events & Pay-Per-View Tickets

Sell a ticket to your live event, collect the money on your own Stripe account, and show the player right on your own website.

Boxing nights, concerts, galas, conferences and online festivals: put a price on one broadcast and DCAST handles the rest. The buyer enters an email and pays by card, the money goes straight to your own Stripe account, and the same ticket opens the live show and, if you record it, the replay.

Email

What you get

Boxing and MMA promoters, concert and festival organizers, event agencies, conference producers, theatres, sports leagues, award and gala organizers

A ticket on any live card

Switch a broadcast to pay-per-view and set one price. Anyone without a ticket sees the buy card instead of the picture, on your watch page, in the player embedded on your own website and on your creator site.

A viewer needs only an email and a card

No account to create first. The buyer enters an email, pays by card (Apple Pay or Google Pay where the device has them) and receives a receipt with an access code and a link to the event.

The money goes to your Stripe account

The charge is made directly on your own connected Stripe account. DCAST keeps only its commission by plan, taken as a fee on each charge; the processing fee of Stripe itself stays on your account. Tickets are charged in US dollars.

One ticket for the live show and the replay

A ticket is a right to the card, not to a moment: it works before the start, during the show and after it. If you record the event, buyers watch the replay on the same link without paying again.

How it works

01

Create the card and set the price

Create a broadcast card, choose pay-per-view and enter the ticket price in US dollars. Write the date, the length and what is included into the description before the first ticket is sold. Connect your Stripe account first: Stripe verifies it, and sales open only once it is ready.

02

Put the player on your own website

Copy the embed code onto your event page. A visitor without a ticket sees the buy button with the price inside the player itself, pays there and starts watching on the same page.

03

Rehearse with the real rig

Run the encoder you will use on the night. As the owner you always get in, so walk the whole path from your phone and test the payment on the real page before the first stranger buys.

04

Prepare a second signal

Where your plan includes the backup signal (see the plan cards below), connect a second encoder on another computer and connection: a ticketed audience will not forgive a stream that dies in the middle. Where it does not, keep a spare rig ready.

05

Go live, and keep it off public platforms

Start the broadcast and watch its health in the dashboard. Do not restream a paid event to a public platform at the same time: anyone can watch it there without a ticket.

06

Replay for ticket holders

If you record the event, the recording stays on the same card and the same ticket opens it. Say in the offer whether a replay follows.

What a paid event costs

You pay DCAST a monthly plan and a commission on each ticket sold. The plan sets how many people can watch at once; the commission is taken as a fee on every charge made on your Stripe account. Every number below is read live from the current plan list.

STAR

$49/ month

500 viewers at once, 5% commission on each ticket

No backup signal

PRO

$149/ month

1,000 viewers at once, 3% commission on each ticket

Backup signal included

VIP

$299/ month

5,000 viewers at once, 1% commission on each ticket

Backup signal included

The Free plan can sell a ticket too, but it allows 50 viewers at once and caps a broadcast at 1 h. For a larger or longer event choose a paid plan.

Worked example

500 tickets at $11 bring $5,500 in sales. This is what you pay DCAST for that month:

  • STAR: $49 plan + 5% of $5,500 = $324
  • PRO: $149 plan + 3% of $5,500 = $314
  • VIP: $299 plan + 1% of $5,500 = $354

The processing fee of your Stripe account is charged by Stripe on top of this and is not included.

Good to know before you sell

  • Ticket prices are set and charged in US dollars only.
  • Buyers pay by card through your Stripe account. PayPal is not offered.
  • Stripe has to verify your account before sales open, so connect it well before the event, not on the day.
  • One ticket plays on one screen at a time.
  • The viewer limit of your plan is enforced: once every place is taken, the next viewer is asked to try again later.
  • Buyers who already paid keep their access on the terms they bought, even if you later change the price or close the sale.
