Live streaming

Run and moderate the chat of your broadcast

Turn the live chat on or off, hold messages for approval before they appear, and remove messages during the broadcast.

Before you start

  • Your stream exists in the dashboard.
  • Team members who should moderate have a role that allows it.

Steps

  1. 1
Open the dashboard, click STREAMS in the tab row and click the gear icon on the card of your stream. Open the Chat tab.
  2. 2
In Basic Chat Settings, turn Enable Chat on or off. With chat off, viewers see that live chat is turned off for this content.
  3. 3
To approve every message before it is shown, turn on Pre-moderate Messages in the Moderation card. Set the Moderation Timeout (sec) and the Timeout Action β€” Auto reject or Auto approve β€” for messages nobody answers in time.
  4. 4
Click Save Chat Settings. Nothing is stored until you do.
  5. 5
During the broadcast the Moderation Queue card at the bottom of the Chat tab shows Pending messages. Click Approve or Reject on each one.
  6. 6
To remove a message that is already published, click the bin icon (Delete message) on it in the chat panel.
  7. 7
Viewers can write after entering a name or signing in. On paid content the chat opens once the viewer has access.

Expected result

Only the messages you approve appear in the chat, and a deleted message disappears for everyone.

Common problems

My chat changes were lost.

Chat settings are saved only with Save Chat Settings at the bottom of the tab. Change them again and click it.

The Moderation Queue card is missing.

It appears only when Pre-moderate Messages is on. Turn it on and save.

A moderator sees the queue but cannot approve or reject.

Their team role is read-only. Give them a role with moderation rights.
