Your creator website
Put your site on a DCAST subdomain
Give your creator site a short address of its own, such as mysite.dcast.tv, without buying a domain or touching DNS.
Before you start
- Your account is on the STAR, PRO or VIP plan. On FREE the server refuses the activation and asks you to upgrade.
- Your email address is verified β a site cannot be activated before that.
- You have a name in mind: 3 to 63 characters, Latin letters aβz, digits and hyphens, not starting or ending with a hyphen.
Steps
- 1Open your account menu (your avatar) and click Site Customization. If the menu shows Activate your site instead, click it first.
- 2Open the Domain tab. The block Subdomain (mysite.dcast.tv) is at the top.
- 3Type the name you want into the field in front of .dcast.tv. Capital letters become lower case, and characters that are not allowed are removed as you type.
- 4Click Activate. The button says Activating... while the address is set up; DNS is configured for you.
- 5When the block says Subdomain is active, click the address or Visit Site to open your site on it.
- 6To stop using the address, click Deactivate. Your site keeps working on its usual address.
Expected result
Your creator site opens at https://yourname.dcast.tv, and the Domain tab shows Subdomain is active.
Common problems
The message says the subdomain is already taken.
Another creator uses that name. Add a word or a hyphen, for example yourname-live, and click Activate again.
The message says the subdomain is reserved or starts with a reserved system prefix.
System words such as www, api, admin, shop or blog, names of well-known brands and prefixes such as api- or dev- cannot be used. Choose a name of your own.
The message says the subdomain is not available for my plan.
Subdomains belong to the STAR, PRO and VIP plans. Upgrade on the Billing page and activate again.
The message asks me to verify my email address.
Open the confirmation letter DCAST sent to your email, follow its link, and then activate the subdomain.
