Multi-destination streaming

What is restreaming and when to use it

Understand the difference between a regular stream and a restream, and decide which you need.

Before you start

  • You know which platforms you want to reach.
  • You have accounts on those platforms with live streaming enabled.

Steps

  1. 1A regular STREAM goes to one place — the DCAST watch page. Use it when DCAST is your main destination.
  2. 2A RESTREAM takes one video signal and sends it to multiple destinations at the same time — YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and more.
  3. 3Both can use the same source (OBS or another encoder).
  4. 4Decide your goal: if you want DCAST only, use STREAM. If you want several platforms at once, use RESTREAM.
  5. 5Open the Restream section of the dashboard.
  6. 6Click Create Restream Flow to start setting up.

Expected result

You know whether to use STREAM or RESTREAM and are ready to create the right one.

Common problems

I want DCAST and YouTube at the same time.

Create a Restream Flow and add both DCAST and YouTube as destinations.

I am not sure which platforms support live streaming.

Any platform with an RTMP ingest endpoint can receive a restream. YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook all support this.

I already have a stream — can I add restream destinations?

Yes — create a Restream Flow and choose your existing stream as the source.
